What are neck-related (cervicogenic) headaches?

Cervicogenic headaches are referred from the joints and muscles of the upper neck. They often sit at the base of the skull, on one side, or behind the eyes, and can get worse with desk work, stress and sustained postures.

How does MotionFix assess and treat headaches?

We assess the upper neck and the muscles that can refer pain into the head. If the findings suggest a neck-related headache, treatment is aimed at the restrictions and tension involved, alongside practical changes to the loads that seem to trigger it.

Are all headaches mechanical?

No. Part of the assessment is recognising headaches that need a different route, and we'll tell you plainly — and suggest you see your GP — if yours does.

Can chiropractic help migraines?

The evidence for chiropractic care is strongest for cervicogenic (neck-related) headaches. We don't offer treatment for migraine itself; if your headaches sound like migraine, we'll suggest you speak to your GP.

How soon will I notice a difference?

It varies from person to person. Your assessment will give you a realistic picture for your case, and we'll review progress with you as we go.
